yes I think 03-04 cobras are sick, but jeez people, stop swinging on the nuts so bad. That's all I hear nowadays on this board, i can't wait to get one, bla bla bla.

I agree. They are badass cars, & have good power with OEM reliability, but they are very "cookie cutter" IMO. I would rather have a BUILT & unique Mach 1, 94-04 GT, 94-01 Cobra, or Notch IMO. I just like stuff that's different, unique, & stands out from the pack. I know my mach is nowhere near what an 03/04 Cobra is performance wise, but it turns just as many, if not more heads than any 03/04 Cobra I have seen around this area.

Yessir, unique is good, & is a rare thing in our hobby. & a fox might not have as many creature comforts as an 03/04, but its pretty easy to make a notch just as fast, if not faster than a Terminator.

Cobras are very nice looking cars, but with all the problems that have posted on this board is crazy oil pumps, bad compression, cooling issues, burned valves, etc. is amazing. The only thumbs up I give those cobras are, passing the sniffer test making some power a fox or sn will never get close to.

Oh yeah, I almost forgot, the other good thing about 03/04 Cobra's is being able to make massive HP & being able to pass smog...
But, with those massive amounts of power, they still aren't running very impressive times at the strip for the amount of power they are making if they are still in full "Terminator" trim. With an SRA swap, the times get better, but a basic HCI fox, with an S trim or a shot will easily outrun most pullied terminators at the strip, & on the street...

myself being an 03 cobra owner, i do agree, i catch myself turning my head at nice MACH's all the time, but then again it seems the only time i see other cobras is when i go visit AED! Thats why im not on here all the time "bragging" bout my cobra, i think its fast, but always someone faster and who can drive better, mine makes 533rwhp and all i have to do is switch mid pipes to pass smog!

I see many more Cobra's on a daily basis than I do Mach 1's. I probably see 3 Mach 1's for every 10 Terminator's I see, but then again, they built more Cobra's than Mach's.
As far as any other built 4.6 pushing 500+ hp, & passing smog, it can be done with a 2V, or even a Mach 1, as long as they are built with carb legal parts, & still can have the factory midpipe bolted up, it shouldn't have any issues passing smog...
Don't get me wrong, 03/04's are bad@$$ cars, & I respect what they are, but I'm just tired of all the hype....

I have never had any of these problems with my cobra. people usually have those problems when they abuse them or get fucked up tunes etc..... any car can be made to go fast if you have the money to spend on it. 04 cobras are cool but, it's still just a mustang so you get what you pay for... you pay more for zo6's vipers etc for a reason...

I jock them hard. BEST mustang I have ever owned by far.
I like how they are referred to as cookie cutter and yet every mustang ever made is mass produced. So I don't get how cobras are any more cookie cutter than the next. We just saw an exact clone of epik's mach on CL a few monts ago. And cmon Dustin, when you drove my car you even said you would have rather bought one than be that deep financially into yours.
Sydwaysix even said in his for sale thread he would buy a termi if he could afford it. And with all the cars you have been through I guess none of them were "all that" in your opinion.
8stang8 has a bad ass fox, but one he can't easily smog or park wherever he wants. Nor resale for what he has into it. For all you've built the wheels are still worth more than the car and the car is worth more in pieces. And will get pennies from an insurance company if ever wrecked/stolen.
Threethirty1's comment says it all. He is out hunting for 03/04 cobras to beat. Not foxes, not mach 1's, not saleens or even 96-01 cobras. Because people measure their cars against 03/04's and not vice versa
I guess if loving a 600 rear wheel capable car that can pass smog with a 6 speed, IRS, an Eaton, blow ice cold ac and drive across country while having a resale value of 20k plus is a bad thing then I'm a sure sucker
I would suggest all that don't jjock them go drive a bone stock one on a daily basis for 30 days. Then go jump in your modded or unmodded current mustang and see if you don't reconsider how much you like them.

nothing more cookie cutter than any mustang on fr500's. just sayin. the termi is the best mustang produced to date. taking into consideration of looks, driveability, strength and overall horsepower. i see more machs than cobras for sure. i can actully go in my backyard and throw a rock over my neighbors house and hit one. you cannot compare a mach to a termi. go ahead and slap 15psi to a mach and watch the powdered pistons make a fireworks display.
p.s. i know the new 5.0 stangs are dope. BUT, they are also fugly.

Wait a minute... You take the distribution of OEM Mustangs that have been produced since the beginning, compare them thoroughly, and the 03-04 Cobra certainly stands out from the bunch and is "all that"
- Forged Internals
- Factory Supercharged DOHC
- T56
- IRS
- 600+rwhp potential with a blower swap and fuel
- All creature comforts you'd ever want
For someone that doesn't want to spend months or even years building their own project, the 03-04 Cobra is a nice alternative (and very attractive to me since I don't have time to build cars these days).
Personally I can't get myself to spend $20K on a Mustang, but i can certainly see the appeal. If I spend that kind of dough on a car, it's gonna be BMW/Z06...

The people that talk crap about a terminator are people with foxes that cant afford a terminator. Simple as that. Im sure any of us would rather own a 2003/4 Cobra if we had the funds. The fact you can make 1000RWHP on a stock cobra engine alone should be the main reason to get one. The 03 cobra is still one of the best mustangs ever made.
