That's almost identicle to one of my AR's (upper wise). What make is it? 5.56 I assume?
The only difference in mine is I opted for Troy Industries flip up front & rear iron sights to compliment my EOTech optic. What make is the RIS system as well?

The lower reciever is the only part of an AR consider to be a gun. You can order all the other parts online except the lower, the lower has to go through a 10 day waiting period.

If you dont mind me asking, whats the reason for having a high powered automatic rifle as a civilian? is it more of a protection issue or just something you've wanted? i ask because i may be joining chp soon and the thought of showing up to a call or pulling over someone in posession of an AR-15 assault rifle seems disturbing. again im not talking shit but have a genuine curiousity to understand your reasoning

lol, u have a good while till u become chp, plus ur not gonna be a cop so u wont really be showing up to a call, chances of u pulling him over and him actually having it in the car are very unlikely. its most likely something he's wanted and for protection. its "KINDA" like me sayin, why do u have a muscle when u are becoming chp if maybe one day u get pulled over speeding or racing by chp and u are chp also. that wont look very well will it? just my .02

over 100,000 california citizens have legal AR15s, if you become a CHP officer please read the gun laws on these weapons and make your own decision on them. No one so far with a california legal AR15 has been prosecuted for owning it. If your going to be a CHP officer you should worry more about handguns than an AR15. Handguns are harder to hide. California legal AR15's aren't assault weapons by the way, they are just a rifle and they aren't automatic. [ March 05, 2008, 02:07 AM: Message edited by: 532Fastback ]

Ok officer (insert name). Pop quiz time.
Who's more of a tactical threat? A person armed with a high powered scoped bolt action rifle that can hit soft targets out to 1,000 meters OR a person that brandishes an "assualt rifle" with a 30 round magazine that is less effective at long range? I could kill a human being before they would hear the crack of the primer being struck by the rifle's hammer with a scoped bolt action rifle. Are we going to ban hunting rifles next because they are potential "sniper" rifles?
A person that is a law abiding citizen should not have to answer this question under the 2nd ammendment. It is a person's right to bear arms whatever those arms may be. If a person has a class III FFL then fuck it, they can buy a goddamned M249 SAW belt-fed machine gun for all I give a fuck.
Chances are the cheese dicks that you'll be pulling over at felony traffic stops will have on their person or in their possession "cheap" junk guns. Very, very rarely will you find a felon with a high dollar "Sig, H&K, Glock or Colt" in their cache of weaponry.

My bad, it wasn't a dumb question, In fact it was an insightful one that challenges all to think for a minute about guns and the people that posses them. No reason for me to have called the dude dumb. My bad on that. [ March 05, 2008, 01:16 PM: Message edited by: Fast(er) Eddie ]

Sorry faster you are the dumbass kid, Grow up.
Cops are here to help protect us, if you get busted street racing or doing illegal activities and now hate cops thats your problem, one day you will need one. Having a dislike for cops is a maturity issue so please grow up sooner then later.
Good luck in your pursuit to becoming a cop 50.
I think 50 had a valid question, to the unknowing citizen an AR15 looks like an assault rifle. If I didn't have a background growing up shooting guns I'd ask the same question WTF do you need that for are you looking to kill an army?

why is everyone attacking 50 and his lack of "knowledge." why are you people calling him names? that really proves your maturity. He had a valid question. Why own a high power riffle? is it protection, wanna feel tough, simply collect weapons, what? Read his post again and do be so defensive, maybe you'll get his question now.
Personally, i'd own a shotgun to take care of burglars and intruders.
