The benefits countries get from open borders out weigh the small disadvantages. Governments in general should not restrict the travel of free, peaceful humans looking to work and contribute to society. For every violent one that comes across the border, 10,000 immigrants come to study and become engineers to further our computer and space programs. Many take jobs in the fields those privileged enough to be educated in America would never take. Many start their own small businesses. There is a wide wealth of people coming to join our American experiment every year. We should give them the tool and direction they'll need to succeed, as we'll all prosper as a society this way.

The open borders only works if you do not have a massive welfare state. Saying give them "the tools and direction" is another word for government spending, which is against LP philosophy. What we have here is a "show up we give you free money" which does not work and attracts the leaches.
In the US, open borders will not work. Even mainstream LP's think there should be some semblance of immigration control at this point.

Well that's the fault of the free shit party. "We'll give you free shit if you vote for us." "Free phone". "Free Health Care". "Free rent". "Free money". "Free college". Closing the borders won't fix this root problem If someone doesn't like brown people, they should be brave enough to say it. They shouldn't try to build a wall and hide behind it like a coward.
The tools I was talking about were an education or skilled job training system. An economy that can provide entry level jobs one can work at while going to school or learning a skilled job. This is the real fix. [ 2016-05-10, 04:27 PM: Message edited by: Martinna ]

Ya I think the hard line any political party person must struggle with ideology about anything. I think the wall will provide a good physical barrier to keep the undocumented from coming cause we don't know who is good or bad but they are all illegal if they are not crossing the right way.
Hungary built a wall and it's working

Who's to say the website you pulled up is correct or not? A lot of "news" websites out there.
Main reason why I posted was that people are certain Trump is racist. Still waiting for a good reason to believe that. [ 2016-05-11, 02:51 PM: Message edited by: 135.0 ]

Snopes is a well respected website for clarifying rumors and myths.
I can't answer your question about Trump being racist. However, it's not the people saying he racist that I'd worry about, so much as those trying so hard to prove that he isn't. [ 2016-05-11, 03:57 PM: Message edited by: theconductor ]

Not trying hard at all since nobody can give me any examples...

Americans are very fortunate to have people across the world give up everything they have to come to a new land. In this new land they often wash dishes, pick strawberries and do tasks spoiled Americans wouldn't dare. They do these tasks for very low pay. Their only motivation is to give their children a chance. Opportunities they never had themselves.

My Dad used to tell us: "En este pais, ustedes van a poder lograr todas las cosas que nosotros no pudimos" "In this country, you will be able to accomplish all the things we never could."
A few years ago during a speech, I noticed a bartender behind a portable bar at the back of the ballroom. I remembered my father who had worked for many years as a banquet bartender.
He was grateful for the work he had, but that's not the life he wanted for us.
He stood behind a bar in the back of the room all those years, so one day I could stand behind a podium in the front of a room.
That journey, from behind that bar to behind this podium, goes to the essence of the American miracle — that we're exceptional not because we have more rich people here.
We're special because dreams that are impossible anywhere else, come true here.
That's not just my story. That's your story. That's our story.

Legal Immigrants can do so much more than pick strawberries, pick cotton, work at McDonalds and scrub toilets. I have a friend who practically got his Engineering degree for free all because he was 1st generation Mexican American. This country will definitely give you a good chance to make something of yourself. The more illegals that come into the country the more this dilutes the opportunity the legal ones can receive. Trump is going to make America great again and this will in turn make Mexico great again too.
You can make it to America as a legal immigrant, people act like that the only way in is getting your back all wet. As a legal immigrant you will have a choice yourself if you want to scrub toilets or become rich. The sky's the limit.
