Looking to get another toy but need some helpful suggestions so I can decide where to begin my search...Looking to spend about $7000 so I know a lot of "good" cars are out of my price range right now, but its worth a shot!
My goal for this car would not be anything spectacular...just a somewhat comfortable car that can be daily driven if necessary. I'm not looking for a 12 second car off the bat, but something with enough power to have some fun in the twisties and handle fairly well.
Let me know what your suggestions!
1. Old school: Mustang, Falcon, Chevelle, Nova, etc...
2. 96-99 Cobra (I definitely can't afford the 03 right now)
3. Bullitt: I've always liked these for some reason. I know its not the fastest and it has a 2v 281, which is whats kind of holding me back
4. Foxbody Saleen or Cobra (if I can find one in my price range)

Old school pony! Well are you going to be using it as a dd or what? IMO I say old school..easier to work on and don't have to smog. Or, 96-98 cobras do have a lot of potential, and you can find one right around your price range..maybe a tad bit more
GL on your decision

Old school was my first option when i sold my car, but I thought about it and really dont want a headache...i know it comes with the territory, but old schools will most likley give me more grief than something newer. But if something comes up, I might have to jump on it

The "oooo skooooo" (is that how you are supposed to day it on cafords?) is always going to turn more heads, get more looks, leave a lasting impression, have lower probability of a duplicate, etc. The "cool factor" is through the roof. Can't beat it.
Now for the compromise... The 96+ Cobra will usually be ready out of the box. It's got creature comforts, AC, power everything, seals well, gets 18-20mpg, and will lay down right around 300rwhp with exhaust, pullies, CAI, and a tune. It just won't require as much attention in general.
The classic is primitive and unsophisticated, but doesn't lose resale.
If you haven't owned a classic before you are probably in for a bit of a surpise, but I'd say go for it.
Just keep in mind for $7K you probably won't find any 96-99 Cobra that will blow your socks off, but it will be a good starting point. For $10K, now you can expect to buy a car with great paint and mods.
My vote would be a 67-68 Mustang Coupe...
