Almost 100HP more than a 2010?
Just 10 pounds heavier then a 2010?
A choice between a 6spd auto or manual transmission???
Boy, I would be so pissed IF i had gotten a 2010, because if people would just wait another year they would have gotten something waay better at almost the same price!

we all love the 5.0 motors but come on guys, Ford can't keep up with Chevy anymore (I HATE CHEVY) but still they are coming with this new 5.0 but only 412HP when the Current SS has 422HP, Lets not start talking about the corvette..........
This is a good start for ford buy they need to step it up, this car should have atleast more HP then the current SS??????
Just my .02 Cents, Still Glad to see the 5.0 back

It wont need that 10 extra hp to beat an ss...The ss weighs in a lot more than a GT Honestly, I think the GT will be keeping up with the gt500 in the quarter. Nicely done Ford!!

ONLY 412hp?! Sure the SS has 422... but it needs a 6.2L to get that! 412 is as much as the outgoing Z06's 405... and they still needed 5.7L for that... so, i think 412hp out of a 5.0L, NON-SUPERCHARGED is pretty damn good... especially considering the performance advantage the SS holds over the current 4.6L Stang is pretty small...
and what about the Corvette?! I mean, on an engine-to-engine basis, the Z06's 505hp is nice, but it took a 7.0L that's prone to grenading to do it... meanwhile the GT500 is doing those numbers with a 5.4L... sure it took a little boost, but i'd take a boosted modular over a super stroked pushrod any day of the week.
and not leaving the ZR-1 out of it, they got a good 620ish hp out of a boosted 6.2L... but haven't 03-04 Cobra owners been doing that with a 4.6L for a while now? and if you wanna talk stock, then Saleen had the S302-E pushing the same numbers as the ZR-1 out of a 5.0L 3-valve... stock. (keep in mind, that i DO admit that the Corvette is a superior performance vehicle, being that is a more "pure" sportscar, as compared to the "pony car" status of the Mustang/Camaro... i am simply comparing motors)
i mean we're talking about a NA motor putting out 03-04 Cobra numbers... imagine when Ford decides to supercharge this thing? or EcoBoost Twin Turbo it?!

lets talk about mods because if any of us bought either car they wouldnt remain stock.lets see new 5.0 is quad cam so a cam swap without labor is gonna run around 2k for parts (based on current ford quad cam part prices) you spend about 550 for the parts on an lsx.not to mention the lsx is gonna see better gains from the swap.modular fords dont even have a true aftermarket cylinder head.
i personally would like to see ford make a modern pushrod motor.they also need to put these cars on a diet but with nvh regulations i doubt that will happen.
and whoever said the new gt will be as fast or close to the gt500 is a retard.why would they make a gt as fast as their flagship stang.thats plain stupid.i know it has the almighty 5.0 but its still smaller than the 5.4 and its n/a

are you sure about this.have you compared flow numbers little 2 valve pushrod chevy heads will outflow quad cam heads. and yeah i suppose youre right the lsx is a boat anchor motor stuck on the past.it only has better power potential, longer life, better mpg's.i guess they should make an inferior engine so they can get with the times

ok first off you cant compair a mustang to a corvette not the same class now as apose to the camero ss it has 422 and its compaired to the 500 horse cobra but your right ford has been messing around wayyyyyy to long they need to stop and build a 351 then see what chev has to say

thats true but the new camaro's are a alot bigger car so they are most likely a lot heavier than the mustang so i think it will be close if not better with the new 5.0 mustang
