Originally posted by 04 S281: [QB]
Originally posted by NavidR: [qb] we all love the 5.0 motors but come on guys, Ford can't keep up with Chevy anymore (I HATE CHEVY) but still they are coming with this new 5.0 but only 412HP when the Current SS has 422HP, Lets not start talking about the corvette.......... [/qb]
ONLY 412hp?! Sure the SS has 422... but it needs a 6.2L to get that! 412 is as much as the outgoing Z06's 405... and they still needed 5.7L for that... so, i think 412hp out of a 5.0L, NON-SUPERCHARGED is pretty damn good... especially considering the performance advantage the SS holds over the current 4.6L Stang is pretty small... and what about the Corvette?! I mean, on an engine-to-engine basis, the Z06's 505hp is nice, but it took a 7.0L that's prone to grenading to do it... meanwhile the GT500 is doing those numbers with a 5.4L... sure it took a little boost, but i'd take a boosted modular over a super stroked pushrod any day of the week. and not leaving the ZR-1 out of it, they got a good 620ish hp out of a boosted 6.2L... but haven't 03-04 Cobra owners been doing that with a 4.6L for a while now? and if you wanna talk stock, then Saleen had the S302-E pushing the same numbers as the ZR-1 out of a 5.0L 3-valve... stock. (keep in mind, that i DO admit that the Corvette is a superior performance vehicle, being that is a more "pure" sportscar, as compared to the "pony car" status of the Mustang/Camaro... i am simply comparing motors) i mean we're talking about a NA motor putting out 03-04 Cobra numbers... imagine when Ford decides to supercharge this thing? or EcoBoost Twin Turbo it?!
