I've always said that people with deep credit card debt have some deeper underlying problem... brain damage, intense OCD, keeping up with the Joneses syndrome, etc etc etc... something is driving that obsession to have the latest/greatest.
Of course there are some rare cases where it's medical or job loss and people are using credit cards to keep their head above water. But more often than not it's living beyond your means.
This is exactly why I don't lend people money (unless it's a medical/job loss situation involving survival).
I know there are people on this site who are stretching themselves into credit card debt to buy used Mustangs... a common symptom of brain damage, lol lol lol
Very good point made, I never really thought about the reason why people get in debt. I'm a little in debt but it's because of small school loans and etc, but overall it's managable. [ November 02, 2011, 12:33 PM: Message edited by: JUNKYARD5.0 ]

Thanks for pointing that out...
School is another one that is acceptable since it's an investment into yourself which will typically pay off over the years.

Another note, I don't think the problem is going into debt but part of it is more of getting out of it. Everyone has been in debt, credit, friend, whatever, but the problem is, in the case of credit cards, people are paying high interest rates and they pay more interest rate than the actual money they owe. The problem is not the interest rate. The problem is the fuckin idiot that signs up for the high interest rate

well it goes along w/ not spending responsibly and within your means. higher interest rates = often less than ideal credit, which happens to certain ppl for a reason.. sadly these ppl werent handcuffed to accept the terms and conditions and should have control over their own credit.
if i had to make a decision on using that credit card and faced paying higher intrest rates, i would reconsider that purchase unless it was an emergency and/or you're okay paying short term interest, guaranteeing yourself that the debt will be gone within your targeted period. I would have to shop around my own TV show ( Like an HBO, Showtime...)
I would build a ninja warrior/wipeout arena and hold contests to win 100,000.00..... To make it as funny as possible for my viewers, I'd stop by home depot and pick up a bunch of paisas to give them a chance to win the big prize every week.

How many of you on this thread have actually bought tickets for tonight ? Without buying (one or some ) the odds of winning really aren't in your favor..
If everyone on this thread pitched $20 for a group buy the odds of winning would be a little better , even if we had to split it 20 or so ways.
