I need lights in the garage. I looked around but wonder what u guys are doing for lights.

I'd do 2 rows in your garage of those long florecent lights..maybe 2 per row,.evenly you should have enough light for your center/and borders of your garage

I got four rows running front to back 8ft flourescents with t8 bulbs enough light for my 3 car garage. Got em for free from a renovation.

8ft flourescent bulbs is the route I went also. Enough light for me.

T5 are way better
Not familiar. Its been awhile since i did mine but i was impressed with the T8 single prong bulbs being half the wattage of typical fluorescent bulbs. Are the T5's a smaller diameter bulb also?

T5 are smaller in diameter but brighter. all florescent fixtures are over 8. so they are 5/8 inch diameter. I believe you can get different wattage's i think its 28 and 54 watt

i personally dont like LED's they give me a headache plus they are bank and I dont think you get what you pay for. They only look good when its dark also

not all flourescent bulbs are 8ft i dont know where u got that from theres 4ft 2ft u-bulbs etc in t8 and t-12 the most common. an you cant just run any wattage bulb in a certain fixture you will burn out the ballast.

When i put the lights in my garage a typical 8ft fluorescent bulb was 120 watts..1 bulb.. so the fixture took about 240 watts.
The fixtures i put in, with T8 bulbs, use about 120 watts total.
Plenty bright enough for me and have a great life span.

So if you want to know diameter of the bulb a T5 has a diameter of 5/8 of a inch, if your have a T8 it has a diameter of 8/8 which is one inch, if you buy a T12 it has the diameter of 12/8... and so on... does that better explain it?

And 99% sure they dont make a 120 watt fluorescent t8 bulb the highest i think is 56 watts or something. They are meant to be lower is wattage but more efficient with light.
