I don't like polymer guns either. Recoil with them sucks. Shooting my buddy's Glock .40 is way less fun than my 1911 .45.
Actually out of all my handguns, I shoot my .22 the most. It's the most fun and accurate one I got.

Might as well save some cash and buy a Hi-point if you don't care. They're only $140.

I've owned and carried a Glock 23 for almost 15 years, have put apporximately 10,000 rounds through it and field strip and clean it maybe once a year, it has jammed once in that time and that was because I fed it cheap wolf ammo, I love you fire guys but please stick to hoses. The guns are not plastic and they are far from cheaply made crap.

They go bang every time you pull the trigger and have a lifetime warranty. If it ever breaks for any reason, send it back and they'll fix/replace it for free, no questions asked.

Also just my two cents if this is n fact going to be your home defense weapon
1. Do not purchase the cheapest thing you can find a low price gun may be nice but the magazines etc will most likely be crap.
2. Step up to a .40 forget the 9mm.
3. Purchase good quality Hollow Point ammunition, save the cheap stuff for the range, FMJ go through stuff and some cheap HP ammo doesn't fully expad and gets caught in baggy bulky clothing which is basically what every person breaking into your place wears.
4. Go to a range that lets you rent weapons and fire a few before you make a purchase, the first time you have to shoot at a live target it is not like paper targets.

Sometimes you post the most ignorant shit I have ever read in my life.
Glock pistols are used all over the world by law enforcement/military (including 65% of the US). Millions were produced and they are battle proven as one of the most reliable pistols ever.
Regardless of how you feel about a certain pistol, you cannot deny it's reputation and existing usage.

You believe what you read on Wikipedia? You do see the "Edit" button on the top right of that website? I can log in and write whatever i want about Glocks.
You do realize that the Government and State give contracts to the LOWEST bidder so just because Law enforcement and Military use it doesn't mean its quality. [ September 28, 2010, 12:49 AM: Message edited by: WildFire532FB ]

Glocks feel like cheap plastic guns to me, but that's my opinion.
I would suggest the OP narrow it down to 2-3 that you are interested in and shoot them at a local range. Get a feel for each one and make your OWN decision on what works best for you.
