I agree with the part about him being a silly kid, & drag racing is great, but I must disagree about real cars only going in a straight line. Road racing is sick, & it takes alot of skill to do it...BUT, if i road raced, I wouldnt be caught dead throwing a honda Fit, or any other FWD car around a road course...

hahahahahaha this is great!!! Its well known that I don't like mustnags either and everyone used to ask why I'm here and not banned.
And to stay on topic, I get 28-29 mpg in my Altima and it has 245k on it. Imports for the win!!!!

FWIW, If I don't mash the pedal, last average fuel economy was just about 24mpg in the cobra.. I could care less if any one believes me or not. Not too shabby, imo.
Hell, several GTO's can get like 26-28! I know the vette's can post some damned good mpg averages as well.
In any event... IMO, people who buy a performance car, mod it and then bitch about the gas economy need to get their head examined...
It would be like buying a dodge viper and crying because your v-10 doesn't get 30mpg. Gimme a f*ckin break. [ May 19, 2008, 03:54 PM: Message edited by: 94gt ]

Both my stangs get 16mpg and I'm commuting 80 miles a day. That adds up to about $10,000 a year in fuel costs at today's prices.
I drive my stangs because I enjoy the experience, and they make my commute fun.
But from a strictly practical standpoint, it makes no sense for me to switch to a car with higher mpg. If I double my gas mileage, I cut my yearly fuel cost by $5,000. When I do the math, it would take anywhere from 4 years to 10 years for me just to break even on the cost of the new car. That's not enough payback for me to go out and incur more debt, and sacrifice the Mustang driving experience.

im telling you guys. it's all about the gas mileage.
the last few trips ive observed 42 mpg.
what's your mileage like?
so you spent $15k to save $3k a year ($250/month), and that was enough of a difference to put a whole lot of bullshit onto a credit card?
are you going to pay off the card before or after the car? It will take 5 years to just pay for the cost of the car

42 mpg = about $0.10 cents per mile you drive, but spending at least 15K on the car
20 mpg= $0.20 per mile with a 4-5K car
you logic to save money does not "fit".

i dont know what you mean by "card". i don't have a credit card. also, i have a 36 month loan on my car. im 10 months into it, and im maybe 2.5 payments ahead.
also, i was putting $40 into the gas tank every two days daily driving the mustang.

I can get 24-25 mpg in my 95 if I stay on the highway in 5th gear, so it can be done, & I regularly get 18-19 mpg with mixed driving.

Aside from the snow.. it's great. Alot less hippies out here, that's for sure! Cobra is running a bit fat, according to the recent dyno. Laid down 513/529 running fat.. Lets see.. CCWs are sitting here... and my BFG 335's are on their way.
I heard you got a new car? I got a new plate frame...
