PROGRESS PICTURES:

I just brought her home tonight. She's a 1966 K code (271hp solid lifter 289 4V) coupe with an extremely rare C4 automatic... appears to be somewhere around 250 produced with this combination. I have to do a little more research but the car is matching numbers and only 137K original miles. More pics to come once I get her all cleaned up!

Nice car!
Did the vin come from the door tag, or the fender. The reason I ask is I've never seen the C scoop trim on a K code car before. Also, the car seems to be missing the GT badging on the front fender.
Regardless, looks like you've got a clean car.

I know what you mean. I paid $13.5K for the car. I've seen people asking more than that for clean "C code" 289 2V cars.

Both the fender and door tag VIN's match. On K code cars, the block and tranny are also stamped with the VIN. All the numbers match.
As for the GT badging, that was an option package and not all K's were GT's. Interestingly enough, this is a pretty bare bones, low options car. For starters, you could not get AC or power steering with the K engine. This is also a standard interior car. The only options the car came with are the automatic, a remote mirror, and a center console. The car even originally sat on stock steel wheels with hubcaps (which I have). It looks like the car was probably special ordered just for the drivetrain. [ April 27, 2009, 12:58 PM: Message edited by: iceman302 ]

Thanks, guys! New pics up top! I've barely had a chance to mess with anything yet. The car is completely undetailed and needs a lot of clean up. There are quite a few items that I'm going to change as well. I'm getting rid of the ugly quad exhaust tips, putting the original steering wheel back on, and I think I managed to find a properly date coded intake and the correct carb.

Unfortunately, the rallye pack is not original and has a cheap Sun Pro tac in it. The stereo is a Clarion but at least they didn't cut the dash. I do have the original AM radio.
