I guess for the same reason I gotta pay for a war that makes no sense, or to pay for medical care for injured vets, or why I have to lose my investments cus Bush fuckled up the economy.

Can you explain to me why it is universal health care does not work? Your comment about "socialized medicine" is ignorant without facts. Health care in America as it is now is broke. We are the only industrialized country in the world that doesn't provide access for everyone to health care. 50 million Americans go with out access to doctors. As HMO's and Pharmaceuticals get wealthier, we pay for people to visit the E.R. for a minor cough, when it could have been avoided altogether with preventive medicine. We give tax cuts to the upper class, and squeeze out the middle class. We have budget deficits, but instead of raising taxes we bond our way into the future leaving our future at stake. We are in a war that is unpopular, has taken 4,000 American lives, has not made America one bit safer, and now we cannot pull out. Oh, but wait the democrats fucked it up? It is time to bite the bullet, bring jobs back to America, raise taxes, secure the country without taking rights away from citizens, and take care of our people. You are your brothers keeper. You made a comment about welfare and 22's; My question to you is what about the mom raising two children on her own, that works two jobs that do not provide health care, and cannot afford to pay for milk because the cost of living is through the roof. Not to mention she has to have gas at $3.50 a gallon so she can make it to work? Oh, and God forbid that her cars transmission goes out. I believe that there is two sides to that. Sure there are people who abuse public assistance and shame on them, but there are good people out there that have to have it to survive. We have agency's and programs to investigate and prevent Welfare fraud, but because we do not have funds to fund these programs people get away with it. People want it both ways. It is way to easy to say, "We shouldn't raise taxes. We need to cut public programs." But when your family is put in a bind and you have to choose between milk and medicine it is a different song and dance. Look at California we are having to cut public safety and education because the, "Govenator" refuses to raise taxes, instead he wants to bond are way out of fiscal responsibility or raise, "fees". Is a fee not just another name for a tax? I am neither a Republican nor a Liberal; I am a realest, but unfortunately both parties are crooked and I vote liberal. How can you make change when everything congress passes gets vetoed by the President? They did raise the minimum wage, but with stagflation happening it did little to solve the problem.

+1....If I were republican I would jump ship now. This war will go down in history as the worst foreign policy campaign ever. "Brought to you by the Republicans". And ChrisS speaks of poverty and paying for peoples section8. But I guess it must feel real good paying for the medical and behavioral bills of distressed kids of injured or dead soldiers. Paying exuberant gas prices to fund a war that we arent sure what the goal is anymore. "Again brought to you by the Republicans". There will be lots of fall back long after GW is gone from office that we will be paying for. But I guess ChrisS is cool with that. No politician is ever going to please everyone or deliver on all promises or even be able to do them. Most of it is fluff. But republicans have a worse track record of fucking up this country than anyone, but on the other token they have done some good too so they are not all bad. I am leaning towards either obama or clinton. No even listening to mcCain. I think having a woman or a black man in power will launch this country into the place it needs to be. Even more the respective parties platforms are not bad either.
