Depends on the year. 93-95 not that rare. 97 more rare. 98 almost impossible to find and are the most prestigeous. Any mods done to it? If so what? Gimme the details and I can give you some info.

what we should be asking for is the bench press to body weight ratio. That is what impresses me.
335/190 = 1.76
If you can achieve 2.0 or higher you are not human anymore, lol

Awesome reading!
And of course, the best documentary in all the land, "Pumping Iron"

I know this sounds like a stupid ?. But when you say bench press do you mean you have to be able to do a full set of 10 or only be able to lift a specified weight once?

I did 325 in High school weighing in around 190-195 depending on the day. Ever since then I have gone down hill. I am about 220, I just rep with 165 3 sets of 10 every once in a while. All I care is that I can up my own weight.

A few years back I was at my prime when I weighed 210 and benched 385 single and 225 for 34 reps, all touching my chest and not halfway down reps like most people do nowadays. Now I really feel my age and am 10 lbs fatter and the last time I benched I could only muster 3 reps at 335. Joints hurt a lot more often so I am benching less and using lower weights. I'll leave all the heavy lifting to you youngins. So I am curious, is halfway down not touching the chest considered a full rep? I have seen lots of guys put up weight and go halfway down and i am certain if it touched their chest, it would stay there till someone pulled it off. I do notice it is all the 20 year olds and younger doing it. Are they doing it for ego or are they actually teaching to go halfway down in PE in high school? Perhaps a safety issue for joints?

It kinda varies on a few things, one being the persons height. And another being what is called "time under tension". There are certain exercises where if you extend your self to much you are actually no longer working the targetted muscle group but another. Bench is one of those. And I mention height because a shorter person would have a less wider grip. Which means at some point their triceps are exerting more. Which is not bad but as you can imagine the more another group fires the less the other does. Also some folks like to bounce the bar off their chest letting momentum carry the weight up. By ending the motion before physical resistance (your body) you are actually controlling the weight better (it could be argued, but thats the theory). Also ther e is a range before you are actually moving your joints in a un-natural way by hyper-extending or extending too far. Case point locking the elbows while benching. I see people doing this all the time. That actually puts un-natural strain directly on the elbow joint. Lifting is supposed to mimic life movements. Not contort the body to work a muscle group.
So in a nutshell it depends on what works for you. I have long ass arms so I dont go to my chest all the time. I used to be in sports medicine prior to becoming a programmer. [ April 27, 2006, 04:38 PM: Message edited by: n8y8 ]
