Hey guys. I got a crack on my intake manifold. It looks like water mixed in my oil and messed up my engine. I got a quote for $6k to rebuild my engine and the intake manifold. I have the ability to have my car sit for now while I save to rebuild. I was considering upgrading my engine while I do this anyways. I have read people upgrading to a Coyote 5.0V 412HP Crate engine. However that seems very expensive. As it is not directly comparable. It would require me to spend a lot on extra parts and labor.
I have not read anything on this but what about upgrading to a 99/01 Cobra engine? Would that fit with my 02 GT?
Does anyone have an expertise/experiences with this? Anyone have a good recommendation of a shop that will do good work near Oakland? I have seen a ton of used engines with warranties online which seems to be the way to go. But I am wondering if there is any reason to go new. Any recommendations on where to go for an engine?
I am trying to figure out what I want to do now so I can have a goal on how much money I need to save.
Any help will be greatly appreciated guys!

if you want it to be smog legal I believe it has to be a swap from the same year or newer although you might be able to get away with a 99/01 swap

Really depends on what you want out of the car.
