Topic: R302 block and stroker question

I can barely do anything mechanically. I have never dealt with or had an engine built.
My friend is giving me an R302 block 4 bolt main, all forged, 331 stroker kit, w/Scat lightweight crankshaft, JE pistons/rods...that's the list he texted me, not sure if anything is missing for the kit.
What am I missing just to get the bottom end together? I'm asking these questions minutes after I found out about this and I will try to talk to a bunch of people, do some research,etc. But I just figured i'd start here for now.
Any help suggestions, even a shop to deal with for the build in brentwood/Antioch area would be much appreciated.
What do I need to think about, I.e. suggestions, things to worry about,& ask the shop to do for building this short block?
Also, has anyone built a similar set up, roughly how much money am I looking at to get a shop to build this into a long block that I can drop into a fox body turn key style?

Well since a shop will be building it, I say you got a lot of money to go. I'll take you out of that dilemma and will give you $2,000 for everything. ![[Smile]](smile.gif)

Well if you still need cam bearings, freeze plugs..etc bore/hone, balance it... it will cost you about 1500 to 2000 parts and labor just to build the block

Neght ur a pos ur not goin to buy shit u wanna pay $2000 for an unbuild short block but u can't even keep ur word a pay for the parts u asked for . This guy is a pos the tranny he is saling is not even cobra n nobody told him it was cobra u know it's a stok gt tranny stop bull shiting n come pay for this parts

Thanks Ed. That helps a lot. Just need to find a place that can bore, hone, & balance it. Any suggestions??

Scott's Speed and Custom in Antioch. You also have Rebello Racing and I think one other shop all in that industrial area behind the VFW.

I would find a Machine Shop that has actually built an R-block before, R-blocks require more machine work than other blocks, I wouldn't take it to just any machine shop, Keith Craft charged me $1200 for all my machine work and to assemble my short block and another $350 to ship it to me.
