My boy just did a 5spd swap and did a cam and manifold swap. He is having trouble gettin his car to pull past 3000rpm. Any idea what it can be? Feels like the car loses power

This is a loaded question, with all the swapping that went on.

Was car running prior to all this?

I would check vacuum with a gauge. If its stable check firing order paying attention sparkplug wires arent crossed.

What were the plugs gapped at? Base timing with spout out?

If the gauge jumps re adjust valves they are too tight.

Report back results.

Car ran great before swap and engine work. We had another friend look at car yesterday and he said its gonna be fuel pump going out and harmonic balancer needs replacement because we cant get tdc right. He checked timing and tweaked it a lil. Car runs alot better but he recommended change fuel pump and filter.

Timing with spout open was at 10 i believe. No vacuum leaks and plugs we double checked to make sure they were in correct location and werent crossed. Plugs gapped at .54.

Well before you start throwing money at it.

Did you guys get a chance to check vacuum? Pedestal rocker arms were set right?

Get a gauge check fuel psi at idle then reving vacuum on and off.

Check tps signal

If harmonic balancer is wobbly there is no telling if the markings are where they need to be. Replace that for sure then reset timing to like 12-14* if no need to smog right now.
