friend of myne has a 66' mustang w/ a 351w
just did a 03' cobra disc brake conversion front and rear.
were running the 94-95 m/c right now w/no booster, but looking for a power assisted setup that will clear his header and shock tower...
any recommendations? so far an electric booster looks to be the only thing that might clear

i dont have an answer but was wondering which adapter kit did he go with for the cobra brakes?

Need to get better brakes on my 70, miss the cobra setup i had on my 96.

the only write up ive seen on the vintage venom said they used a 94 cobra m/c brakeboost but didnt give any answers as to why that one besides it would "boltin". that was also in a 69 coupe which has more room than 66.

we went with the mustang steve brackets.

I was also looking at the kits on CJ, but I don't thing we have the clearance for the booster.

found this kit on ebay, and a couple pics on google and good reviews, looks like it will clear, but don't want to find out the hard way

Just make sure you get the one for your transmission type. If you have a manual trans, your options get limited since you need room for the clutch rod. I have power on mine right now with a single. Got any pics of the brakes done?

93 cobra master cylinder has a smaller bore diameter if I remember right and has a awesome pedal feel without needing to use a booster.
I could dig up some old paperwork but I built two cars with similar brake setups and no booster and the pedal feel was great. U would have never known it was non power,

That eBay one you listed is for an automatic. I think they get the dual master cylinder in there by moving the whole unit closer to the firewall. (The brackets behind the booster look much shorter than mine.) This can't be done with a manual trams because of the clutch rod which is why most ads you'll see state automatics only.

thanks for catching that, just the diameter of the booster looks like it will fit, but that's why I was asking.

thats the problem with the manual trans, the clutch cable comes out right above the m/c

I think the 93 cobra master cylinder was 7/8 bore diameter. But ideally the smaller the master bore size the more leverage you will have over the brakes making the pedal effort lighter. As far as getting a booster in there if that's the way you still want to go I'd look into what a power brake gta came with. Those cars had a 390 fe in em and those motors are huge compared to a Windsor

Just saw your post about the clutch cable. Yea everyone I know runs manual brakes with the cable setup. You could go to the old school z bar setup for the clutch
