wtf
very random, did it once tonight, once yesterday morning, and a few times the day before, the problem started 3 days ago
the car starts just fine, runs great when moving, its not down on power
it will randomly die when driving then coming to a stop at a sign or a light, then blah, motor just dies, doesnt studder then die, just dies
wtf, it usually idles around 750-800, but 4-5 times in the last three days it just dies
i ohmed out the IAC, and it is at 11.3 ohms, that is between the range the book says of 7-13, so that sucker is good, i think
havent checked the tps yet, that is for tommorrow
i was just going to up the idle by turning the adjustment screw, but soon found out that I have only done that on foxbodies with bbk throttle bodies, i dont work on stock stuff that much, and this car doesnt have that option
so anyone with a suggestion, the timing is set to stock, and was running just fine until 3 days ago when it started to screw up [ November 10, 2004, 09:31 PM: Message edited by: 66 AC COBRA ]

No need to adjust the tps it automaticly sets itself.
On the other hand the butterfly needs to be set with the screw 1.5 turns

well dont know how to set that, i see the screw stop that the linkage kits, but dont see how u can adjust it, it has a little round nut that has it bound in place
but i did fins the allen set screw under the white cap near the IAC, brought the idle 900, now gonna go drive it see what happens, hopefully i didnt create a new problem

on top of the tb near the IAC flange, there is a white cap that covers a allen screw that i guess controls the initial opening point of the IAC
after over adjusting, then under adjusting, then screwing with it some more, I have it set so that is comes to 1k rpms when i push in the clutch while moving, then drops to 800-850 once stopped
I can live with that, i just hope it doesnt die anymore, there is no reason the car needs to idle around 600rpm

Did you get your paint situation taken care of?
As for the prob, did you pull the IAC off and make sure it's not full of crud? The voltage might be right, but it may be slow to position.

its a lot harder to get to that sucker then on a fox
that is also on the list to do tommorrow with checking the tps, and cleaning the maf, i am just going to cover all the bases and then if it happens again, burn the car to the ground and blame fostang

My car did the same exact thing, and it ended up being the sensor in the dist. I replaced the whole dist, and it runs like a champ now

as in it was the cap and rotor, or the actualy sensors and mechanism that control timing

I think he is talking about the stator, which also goes by Halls effect sensor or PIP module. My 1994 GT did the same thing until I replaced it.

I just bought a used dist from a buddy, and swapped that in, from what Ive read, its a PITA to change just the sensor. thats why I just replaced the dist as a whole... If I was back home I would give you my broken one.
