so I've had a 01 gt, I really liked it, had a 67 with a 90 fox swap, wasnt to impressed but was pretty cool, drove an 04 gt, own a 05 gt and now am sellin it.
my question is, say a fox with gt40 heads, cam, cobra intake.is it really as fun as the nrw edge cars? I've never had a fox and am now wanting one since I've had a lot of other stangs.have any of you had both and like one over the other?

ill have 5k.I figure that could get me gears, used heads, intake and cam.if I get a fox in the cheap range I could do even more
I just want to make sure I don't regret getting one.
I can do almost all the work, I want to make sure they are comparable with little work

I have had 1 car for 20 years now. I would, and do recommend fox bodies to everyone.

Yes, if you have garage. Otherwise, get ready to get your feelings hurt.

Shoot for, I think it's 88 and up. Mass air already instead of speed density. One less thing you will have to pay to change.

If its going to be a dd, I wouldn't recommend it. Too much worry about getting stolen and its just not comfortable

they arnt comfortable? I was planning on slamming it on coils. as for the theft thing, my new edge to me looked like it was more tempting to take then a fox but I know, the foxes are a lot easier.but what mustang isn't

Ive been daily driving my current foxbody for a year and a half and hasn't left me on the side of the road yet ..if you buy one replace alternator , battery, radiator and water pump if those parts look old, those are the parts most likely to go out if they are old. But your first mods should be security. . Kill switch good alarm, detachable steering wheel etc... They are fun cars I drove my friends 01 gt and didnt get the same feeling/ pull I feel with my car . A fox will get stolen alot faster then a new edge especially if its clean.
As far as comfort, I meant more like working ac, reliability, and even the noise inside. U can make them dd friendly but generally, they are not. it's just a perk of a 20+ year old car.

Yes I would. I've owned my current fox for 2 years and been daily driving it for nearly all that time until a few months ago when I bought another car. All I have to say is that a fox is reliable as fuck! They will take all the beating you can give them and still continue to take you anywhere with no problems. I have yet to be left on the side of the road with it, my 2004 BMW has already left me there. All foxes need is normal maintenance and it's good to go, people who tell you otherwise usually have a lemon on their hands. I've driven mine from Redwood City to San Jose to Hayward then to Sac raceway N got 12 runs in(tire blew from being too bald) then drove it back home in Menlo Park and did not get overheated or anything even with driving nearly over 100 the whole time.

U have a great runner and mine has also never left on the road yet but I've seen many many foxes have problems so its just expected especially if maintenance wasn't kept up...n lets be real, most you'll find won't be kept up.
Not bashing foxes but like I said its a 20 year old car...just gotta replace all the parts n reliability is there.

When i bought my white 86 i drove it home from fresno which is a 3 hour drive. Clutch was slipping, had bad tires and it sat for like 4 years untouched on some dirt. It drove home fine with no issues besides the clutch.

I had a couple fox bodies. They are good drag cars but i wouldnt want to drive them on the street. A 1994/95 5.0 is 10x more comfortable and a better driver than a fox.

I would only recommend a FOX body to some one if is was a super clean Saleen, not the primerd junk from some CAfords member.
It would be hard to find a clean Saleen FOX so I would steer a some one into a nice 1999+ mustang as those cars are a million times better in every way than a FOX mustang.

Why are the New Edges better than a Fox?

Why are the New Edges better than a Fox?
A new edge 1999+ mustang is better than a FOX mustang in every way:
Stiffer chassis. Nicer interior. More power. better brakes. better handling.
The FOX convertibles are horrible. Every FOX vert I ever drove felt so loose and made so creak and rattle noises that I thought the car was going to split in two. FOX convertibles are definatly tin cans on wheels. The 1994 convertible mustangs feel very solid and the 1999 Mustang convertibles are even better. The 1994 Mustang convertibles even have a nice headliner on them while the FOX convertibles do not.
