cold part about it, if you are not tied into the underground movement. You cannot really name any artist in the West that is tearin sh*t up. The West has truly fallen behind. [ January 22, 2010, 01:21 PM: Message edited by: N8 ]

That's cause everyone is on the auto tune kick.... Rappers like Little Wayne, baby, slim thug, T pain, flo rida, Have ruined Rap.
The bay has fallen off only in the sence that comercially it's not selling..... Almost all the rappers in the spotlight are fake ass POP stars backed by major lables, trying to sell as many records As they can....
Too Shorts track " In the trunk " calls this kind of shit out

I can dig that, but we have absolutely no one on the West. We may have to go grab Ice Cube out of retirement. Snoop plain lost it to me. Its like when Pac died so did the West in the rap game.

How can you guys talk about West Coast lyricists and not mention The Game?? ..I'm just saying you can't talk about west coast artists lyrically without mentioning Game. Hes the one who brought notoriety back to the West like 5 years ago. He's put out a Couple Multi-Platinum albums and rediculous Mix-Tapes. Mix-Tape artist of the year in '05 when he came out. He was slaying it on the mic. Heres one of my favorite mix tape songs he put out.

If not being in the spotlight by making ringtone songs and labels milking you for your one hit wonder then, yes, the West has fallen behind. Even if your mind is stuck to that logic, MC Hammer would be the best rapper of all time since he has an album that went DIAMOND. Record sales does not equate to skill or quality music. There's a reason why people THINK Nelly beat KRS-One on wax.
That's like saying Kimbo is better than Randy Coutour because Kimbo's more popular.
If you say Hip Hop fell off then you're just a casual listener. There's quality material with quality bars coming from ALL regions constantly. You don't think there's a Locksmith-type rapper in NY right now? Or an underground legend like Nickatina somewhere in Texas? Or a group like The Team with nothing but SLAPS somewhere in the South right now? There's more to music than just the Bay Area. I support the Bay to the fullest, but I support good music even more.
LOL @ Rap is garbage now... when SLAUGHTERHOUSE released one of the hottest albums out in 09 and Ya Boy dropped a MIXTAPE that went harder than 98% of people's albums in "Chapter 1: The Rise" a few years back. Royce Da 5'9 had the best album in the last quarter of 09 hands down.
