Someone told me that since my car is newer than 2001 that I can have one monitor not ready. Is that true?

Well I posted up my problems on a bimmer site and I think they found the problem for me. I guess I might have a slowly failing thermostat that still has yet to throw a code. Guess it's a common issue and doesn't let my motor to actually get to operating temperature. When I come back from Vegas I'm going to replace it then give it one week to go "ready."
