if the pcm never see the engine get warm it will stay in open loop an how do you tune for that

computer tunes itself
start the car with the new thermo. let it start on its own dont rev and let it open on its own computer will read all of that

Who is right? Probably the engineers who have degrees in engineering and designed the engine to run with a 195° thermostat is my guess.

Here are some facts:

Fox motors are designed to run hotter because it reduces emissions, but it subtracts power and puts you closer to the danger zone if your engine overheats

180 is considered a good temp for a 5.0 motor, it's hot enough to run well but cool enough to reduce engine wear

160 is too low. The EEC-IV computer will keep your motor in open loop which means you will lose power and waste fuel

Too hot is bad, so is too cool. You should choose 180 for better performance or 195 if you want to keep it stock and reduce emissions.

This is exactly what I was going to post but figured I'd get flamed. Most new cars run at 210° normally to reduce wear and emissions.
