I know this isn't a GM site but i need some help PLEASE!
transmission just went out on my 97 Gmc sierra 1500 4x4. i have no idea what type of trans to look for or even where i can get a good price on one. i called a place in castro valley an they told me $2900 ![[Eek!]](eek.gif) for a rebuilt trans! can someone please give me some advice? Thanks in advance

4L60e probably, any 4x4 96-99 old body style truck should have the same trans, lots of those in junkyards I imagine.

thanks for the info fellas. the trans is fucked ![[Mad]](mad.gif) it dosent go into reverse an when it shifts from 1st to 2nd it shifts hard! im trying to find a good price close by. 2900 is way to much
