That isnt completely true. I good forged rod is a good forged rod. Generally the I beam is gonna be a tad light which equals less rotating mass. Rotating mass is the enemy of horsepower. But to put it in perspective. How much power do u plan to make and how high do you plan to rev your engine. In most cases for the average build it isn't going to matter one bit besides price and preference. Just get a quality forged rod.

Typically h beam rods are better but u also gotta look at everything when u build a motor.. IMO the most important thing is the machine work.. I have learned this from past experience [Wink]

The improvements in materials makes forged I beam rods more than good enough for most applications.

Bottom line: Get the lightest set of quality connecting rods that supports the expected horsepower. There's no reason to get heavier rods that support 1000 Hp on a 500Hp engine.

what that tells you, is that my rods are light, and rated for 1000hp. The H beam rods are alot heavier and will cause more rotating mass and rob power. Basicly what steveL said.
