I used 1 5/8 lt bbk with the inside bumps at the primary grinded out, and the collector opened up at the bottom to a true 2 1/2. With a holley systemax afr 185's, and a custom cam it made 386rwhp to the wheels. Then went performer rpm port matched with light exhaust work on the 185's, 3 inch exhaust and 1 3/4 bbk's cleaned up the same way and a bigger cam and made 424rwhp. The 1 5/8 will work. What cam?

Never had an issue. Used the header bolts with the locking washers that hit the header and dont allow the bolt to back out.

FMS shorties on my Fathers car, BBK, and MAC both long tube and short on several customers cars. Make sure to use antisieze (lithium grease) on your header bolts or they will strip out the threads if they are over tightened.
