Topic: can a ground short cause temp to go up?

i recently installed 5 speed on my car *woot woot* but i think i cut a ground installin the pedals. can this cause my car to run temp wise hot? my battery gauge doesnt work nor my rpm gauge my running lights dont work either. only headlights

is the car running hot or the gauge just pegged?
the gauge is a ground reference, so yes it can make the gauge freak out.

its about half way. when i turn my heater on it goes up a bit if that helps anything. radiator is full too btw.
