What could be causing my car to do this. It heats up pretty bad when it sits idling but runs fine when its running. Would a bad thermostat cause this?

This happened to me after I took off the fan shroud because the griffin radiator i picked up was a bit narrower than stock.

If you still got that on, then maybe your fan clutch is on its way out...

Heating up at idle means you're not getting enough airflow throw the radiator. Are your fans coming on?

They come on once the needle gets close to red which is what I think they're supposed to do.

The car runs fine when I'm on the freeway, but once I hit stop and go, it heats up real fast especially at stop lights. It's weird though because if I let idle and keep it revved it brings the temp needle down. You guys think it might be time for a new radiator?
