you'll lose some power but not a lot(2.25") bottle neck. how bout you put tails pipe back on the car ,that will tame the loudness if you running dumps/donkey dix. besides everyone in la and there brother drives a chevy or gmc truck with a 3" flowmaster that sounds like a ups truck on steroids or a v-dub with 8 cyl. -i wouldn't be to concerned .just don't stand on the gas between intersections so cops can not only hear you but see you do it.

I'm guessing that it will throw the tune off a bit AND you will loose a bunch of power. Remember you are going from 2 1/2 pipes and no cats to 2 1/4" pipes and FOUR cats. I would suggest getting an aftermarket H-pipe with high flow cats. You will loose some power but not as much as going back to stock. It will definitely quite the thing down too.
I had the same problem. My offroad X was way too loud.

stock h-pipe is going to choke the shit out of that 331, especially if you got an HCI on it. even on a stock motor you will notice a difference between stock h-pipe and an h-pipe with out cats.
