Well it has happend recently where 1st gear is very hard to get into, this does it a little on 2nd and also on reverse. what can be the problem?
Note: if i turn the car off i can easily go into gear but not when its on.

clutch going out i had the same problem till the gear finally didnt go in but get it checked out maybe its not that

same deal here, i had a weak clutch, first gear was almosty impossible to get into, same with reverse, and going into second resulted in a scratching sound, new king cobra clutch did the trick!

clutch is almost worn out, or the clutch cable adjustment is wrong.

i doubt its the clutch i just got a Centerforoce dual friction clutch, it has maybe less than 300 miles
what other factors can cause this?

i think its time to buy an adjustible cable and quadrant. ![[Roll Eyes]](rolleyes.gif)
if thats not the prob.maybe the flywheel needs resurfacing or check the torque on the pressure plate.
cheap route:firewall adjuster/quadrant
for now if you have to continue to drive like that,you can blip the throttle just before you go to the next gear .say above 1400rpm. ![[Wink]](wink.gif)

to reset the clutch adjustment on the stock setup, lift up really hard on the clutch pedal then push it to the floor.

its most likely and iam pretty sure its the clutch fork had same problem

Id say thats your problem, you need an adjustable cable.
Sounds like an adjustment issue. If you run a heavy clutch I would recommend upgrading the quadrant to an aluminum one. Also, get a firewall adjuster. I would just run the Ford non-adjustable cable with this setup. I don't really like my adjustable cable and have heard the same thing from other people.

Ive never seen an adjustable cable work without changing the quadrant. JUust get a cheap BBK kit.

And why is that he "NEEDS" one? Do you know how many adjustable setups I have removed from cars and replaced with the factory FORD Cables and Qaadrants and given it much better pedal quality,drivabilty and NO HASSLES.

I dont see how you can fine tune a self adjusting cable to get it right, but then again an install pays more than an adjustment? Ive seen three plastic quadrants strip from heavy clutches.

How can you NOT get it right with a self adjusting cable? Its just that self adjusting.It adjusts accordingly as the clutch needs adj.Ive NEVER broken or stripped any factory plastic quadrants in all my years with Mustangs.I have ran/installed every possible clutch and pressure plate setup thats out there for these car and always go with the factory cable/quadrant setup.I have seen so many cars come thru that "need a new clutch" but end up switching to a factory cable/quadrant and it fixes the issue without needing a new clutch
And a lil answer to you stab of an install paying more.I steer people AWAY from spending more money on the aftermarket and encourage them to keep what they already have.I could just have let them spend the money but dont work that way,I just do it right the first time so there is no bullshit.And it has NOTHING to do with money

Why not just adjust the adjustable cable instead of switching them out to stock stuff when they come in "needing a clutch" There is in no way anything wrong with the design of adjustable cables. My girl likes the clutch to engage high so I adjusted hers high, I like mine on the floor so I adjust mine low-No problems here. If people cant adjust, adjustable clutch cables theres a problem. The swing length of the pedal doesnt change by switching the quadrant, so how is a stock quadrant better when you cant fine tune it to where you like it?
