Are you still running the stock 03 cobra T-56? Havent had any problems? Do you launch on slicks? [patriot]

I paid roughly $1000 for the complete set-up including p/p, dfx disc, fidanza f/w, and mcleod tob.

The main diff between the 2 is that they use the same d/f p/p but diff discs. The dfx uses a 6 puck sprung hub disc that's supposed to hold more hp so that's why i got it.

There were a bunch of guys going through the reg d/f discs and i thought it would be a suitable sacrifice of minor chatter for less slip.

Not to confuse you more but they also have a LMC series ( light metal clutch ) but's it's lots of $$$.$$

This is on the stock T-56 that came with the car, it's not launched on full slick just MT DR's at about 4500rpm with a very quick release but not full dump, no probs yet as i'm on stock half-shafts and have gone into the low 1.5x 60's.

I just did a google search for these products and cannot find any number of their shop or companies. Would you happen to have more info?
Thanks!

No prob. It is the wolverines setup.

http://videos.streetfire.net/search/wolverine/0.htm

He had a t56, then a viper/d&d spec t56, and finally the g-force t56. It holds up fine, and the Mcleoud feels close to stock honestly. Finally killed the clutch here http://www.tunedbycft.com/videos/wolverinevsjp.wmv
(in car http://www.catchcans.com/videos/JP%20Vs%20Wolverine.wmv)
at around 1251rwhp and 1300+tq. Id say it is a pretty good clutch.

fwiw - I sat in Jim's Vert Cobra with the Promotion clutch and the pedal pressure was a bit stiffer than mine with the CF DFX set-up.

But hey to harness 700rwhp it ain't guna feel like a Honda (nor would i want it to [Roll Eyes] )

Yep, every pressure plate feels different. Even the same brand. The DFX I did on an 03 Cobra feels like stock & seems to hold.....but we'll know for sure after this weekend. It'll have slicks bolted up running with the new TT setup.

The real difference with the Pro-motion stuff is the disk. The inner plate between the front/rear disk surface has more 'spring' in it. This allows the use of a very 'grabby' friction material, yet the clutch is not 'on/off'.....like a SPEC 3, 4 or 5 is. There's some give before the clutch grabs 100%. NMRA racers use these clutchs & from my experience they tend to give better launches without spinning the tires from 'shocking' the drivline. It's typical for the NMRA guys to ditch the clutch when the inner plate looses it's 'spring'.....60ft times suffer, they can actually feel that the clutch is grabbing harder & they replace it.

The drawback is that because of this 'springy' disk the stock clutch quadrant can NOT be used. You must use an adjustable setup & aluminum quadrant.....& it can be a little tricky to adjust the clutch correctly. The feel of the pedal is not like most other clutchs.

Right on man. Thanks for the info. Which turbo cobra will be at the track this weekend? I dont remember the name of the guy but I think I met him one time at the last cafords get together a few months ago held at the Farmers parking lot on a Sat, he showed up with JeffS.
How much boost is he running? Last I talked to him, he was running the stock halfshafts, is he still running the same setup?

As for the tranny i'm not sure what would be suitable for your application but if i had more power i'd end up with a D&D Viper spec unless i knew of another that blew that away.

Sounds like lots of money to harness that amount of HP [burnout]

My set-up is a CF DFX 26 spline w/ an Alum. Fidanza plate.

I'm only pushing 600ish rwhp though and there is a very slight chatter depending on how you drive........but ask anyone here and they'll let ya know that i drive my Cobra all over the place especially to and from the track (4+hrs. round trip)

When you leave from a stop, you mention a slight chatter, otherwise, are you able to take off like if the car was running the stock clutch? I have looked into the dual friction setup, and have looked away from them because there a bit out of my price range. I would like to setup my car now so that I can drive it. I have a built AOD in it now, and it was a blast on the track. But, now I think I would like something that I can go thru the gears with, and still have a little fun with "if" the car ever makes it back on the drag strip. I have looked away from G force transmisions because they're out of my price range as well. However, it seems like they're some of the best setup 6 speeds you can get. From what I understand, most trannies/clutch setups will not allow you to shift much over 7000 rpm. But, G-force has a Pro shifted setup that allows you to. Sounds really trick and from what the other guys that have replied to this post say that they are really nice/ just pricey [Big Grin] If I was building a 1000 hp monster, I would go with them.
At this point I think im going with a Viper Spec. D+D tranny. Still looking for a streetable clutch that I will be happy with. [patriot]

I totally hear what you're saying in regards to finding a nice "streetable" set-up that can handle the power and still lay down ET's.

I would consider my car to fit right into that category at this point in time at this power level.

Once you get used to the clutch action you can even drive it with zero chatter but leave a stop light with a bit to little rpm and you'll get some chatter but nothing too crazy [Razz]

I've been in all kinds of street traffic and have had no probs except for being frustrated at having to sit in the traffic [Mad]

If you are close by feel free to let me know and you can drive the Cobra to see what i'm talkin about [Big Grin]

right on man! Thanks for the help! Right now I have a few messages in to people and am waiting for them to get back to me.
So far:

-Walt @pro motion has a T-56 setup w/ the upgraded internals, w/the 26spline input, but w/o the upgraded output shaft which is 30 or 31spline. He says that he can provide me with a clutch as well that will be very close if not a little more stronger (?) than a centerforce DFX. I may not need the heavy duty output shaft because I dont plan on launching my car as hard- not sure- I think at the most I would like to go back and time the car with my drag radials and see how quick I can get it with them.

-I am still considering a Viper T-56 from D+D with the Centerforce DFX clutch. What is nice about the D+D setup is that it has the 31spline output and they offer a drive shaft kit. It just seems a little easier with their setup, more like a complete assembly instead of me trying to hunt down parts.

I am awaiting some prices and then I will try to make my decision [patriot]
