The deal is I've been chasing a vibration problem for a long time. I've heard that a lean injector could be a possible cause.

yes it is a special machine. Some Ford dealers have them and if you can find a injector rebuilding place local they might have one.

I usually just hook up a 9volt battery to them.

 -

that tube I filled with denatured alchohol, when you activate the 9volt battery the injector fires and you can see the spray pattern.

mine were all pretty gunky at first, but after a good spraying with this setup for a few seconds the spray pattern improved dramatically.

Thanks for the information and pictures too. The plugs are brand new, and I checked them and they look o.k. to me. Thanks for the pics also. I think I'll wait until my mechanic buddy has some room in his home shop and can diagnose this thing. I've already done all I can do. I think this step may be a bit above my skill level. I don't even know what a proper injector spray should look like.

How do you pressurize the alcohol?

I blew on the end of the tube with my mouth.

If you have air you can regulate it down to 35 psi or so and use that to pressurize the alcohol also.

I wanted to try it with compressed air but my regulator wouldn't go down under 70psi, I thought that would be kind of hard to watch the spray pattern with. I don't plan on doing it again anytime soon, it took like an hour to do all 8, lol.

I got the alchohol at home depot, it's in a big tin can deal near the paint thinner and other solvants.

denatured alcohol is the main ingredient in carb cleaner/brake cleaner/electrical cleaner spray cans.

have you run a balance test ? the ecu will shut off one cylinder at a time and report back if there is a bad firing cylinder.
