You don't need a YSI, an S-Trim will work fine for your needs.

All yellow94gt and other mods have done is volunteer their time to help other people buy/sell parts, learn how to make their cars go faster and meet fellow enthusiasts. I'm a hater, but it's hard to hate on these facts. I have saved hunrdeds, maybe thousands of dollars here buying and selling parts over the years alone, but I don't care, this website owes me damnit, and I'll piss on it as much as I want. Oh 170k? I would start looking into a rebuild first before adding any power adder for reliability.
I've seen 5.0s with 200k+ miles but any high-mile engine is rolling dice when adding power to it.

Well talk to local engine builders or look at the Ford Sale section, post wanted ads on Craigslist. A short-block rebuild isn't that expensive.
I've seen short blocks for free to $1000 for a fresh DSS 306. It all depends on how much is in your wallet and how much power you want to make.
Compare prices and ask about warranty's (if available) etc.
Building engines should be saved for experienced builders only.

do a leak down test and compression check, make sure you have no stored codes and everything is running right, no vacume leaks, etc.
you'll be fine with an S-trim if everything is in order.
no need to buy a new shortblock or rebuild what you have if nothing is wrong with it.

I'd rather spend some of that 3 grand rebuilding a block than buying an S-trim and putting more stress on an already tired motor.
Just because it has 170k doesn't necessarily mean it's going to last another 10-20k with forced induction. Like I said, it's a rolling the dice.
Besides an A-trim could easily get your 350hp goal for over $1000 less than an S-trim. Shit a 100-150bshot could get you there for $300-$350 bucks if you found a used kit.
170 and 170,000 miles is a big difference LOL.

At bare minimum You will need to change Your fuel pump so You might as well get a 255 lph($120) bigger fuel injector's at least 36 # ($250-300) matching mass air meter calibrated for the injector's($225-250) and adjustable fuel regulator ($110-125). More than likley You will need a tune and a SCT chip also($450-600) then if You are using stock head's You should change the valve spring's($150 or so).

Rebuild your motor before throwing a blower on it. If you do this think about stroking it out to 347 if you are going to stay NA. If you want to do a blower later down the road build a low compression 331.
You are probably going to be stressing you budget especially if you car is "bone" stock. You will need to save money for exhaust, fuel, intake, and ignition upgrades.

Do a compression check and if all is well slap a blower on there. If Your shortblock check's out OK and You get a dyno tune & good fuel system You should be fine. If not stock or rebuilt 5.0 engines are cheap.
