My gas gauge on my 1988 is not working, when I start the car it acts like it wants to go down then it rises beyond full. I took the dash cluster out to see if there was any damage and everything tests okay, I also put a new floater in the gas tank and still not fixed. Any reccomendations? Would replacing the fuel sending unit thing under the seat have any effect on this? Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks

i believe the thing you refer to under your seat is a fuel pump relay. im not sure if it affects gauge readings

My 89 does the same thing????? I'm 99.9% sure you have to change the sender. I bought one, just not Mechanically inclined to attempt to fix.

if the gauge goes past full, you need to change the "anti-slosh module",little chip on the back of the cluster. oh yeah, its not aval. thru ford anymore.
