So if i hit my brakes hard and so far i've only noticed this when i am in second gear the Parking brake light turns on. Is this why there was a recall on the parking brake or is it something else? I tink in my jeep when the rear brakes are low the parking brake will blink or turn on when i use the brakes but i checked atleast 1 side of the rear brakes on my Stang and they are fine. Anyone have any ideas?
Dana

It could be a faulty hand brake/parking brake switch...

How's your brake fluid level?...

On the handle there is a little ground wire that connects to it if the connection is loose or touching ground while the parking brake is in the off position it will still allow the light to come on and say that the brake is on just check under the console. good luck let us know how it goes. Top off your brake fluid. The low level sensor is tied in to the brake light on the dash. When you step on the brakes the fluid level in the reservoir goes down a bit causing the light to come on.

The recall on the parking brake was actually for all the sn95 models with manual transmission, where there was a possibility of the parking brake failing when the car was parked and the car could roll if it was not in gear.

that float switch could be on its way out, make sure that it is acutally floating and not stuck on the bottom of the little tank.

hell, check the switch itself, and the associated wiring.

let us know what you find man! [patriot]

FYI~You might wanna check the brake pads...Normally if there is no fluid leaks and the fluid is low it means the pads are worn...

i think i fixed it by filling it, it looked like a good height the first time i check but i looked closer and if i hit the brakes hard enough i could tell most of the fluid would go to the front setting off the parking brake light fluid level switch so i filled it and it was a lot lower than i thought
