If I needed to hook something up to an ignition switch controlled 12-volt source, where would I need to splice it into?

its basically anything that gets power only when the key is in the igntion and its turned either to run, acc, or start. I usually splice off the cig lighter, or look for an unused harness and take from that!

I thought the cig lighter was un-switched? I usually splice off the stereo's power wire.

come to think of it.. your right. my mistake, just splice off the stereo's power wire.
