Hello Everyone,

Hey new to this sight and looking to become ED-U-CAT-ED.

QUESTION: In your opinion what is the BEST!! SMOG LEGAL header x-pipe combo?

2nd question. I called a few places to see what they would charge to install some headers, and they want close to 700.00 bucks. What is the best placed (best in price) to get the header, and x-pipe installed.

FINAL QUESTION-Does any one make an uqaul length header for the 4.6 2v that is legal?

shortie headers arent worth the money for 4.6gt's
just get a bassani catted x pipe and a good catback and keep it legal
or go all the way with longtubes, but IMO shorties arent worth the money on 4.6 motors

The ONLY CARB legal headers I know of are JBAs. I've read on here that FMS's are legal, but when I bought them for my Cobra they weren't. Then again I have passed the visual 2x and never got hit for them.

It is very expensive to get headers installed on a mod motor. L/Ts or shorties. Doesn't matter. If a shop quotes you a low bid, then they have never done it before.

Get cats! Unless you pay someone off, you won't be able to smog it. L/Ts are a toss op on the visual but can pass the sniffer.

L/Ts definatly provide more power and a better sound.

To answer your question acurately, I'd say FMS shorties with a catted Bassani X pipe....

If you have ported heads then you can only benefit from headers...However, I would personally still put long tubes and an off road X on it, if it was my car... [Big Grin]

Good luck [patriot]

My vote is get it smogged now and get some BBK long tubes and an off road pipe and be cool for 2 years. In the mean time finding someone to cheat the next smog. If you want to go smog legal go with JBA shoties ceramic coated is a must and then get a Bassani off road X and then when you need to smog just keep your stock H [patriot]
