What are the advantages or disadvantages of running a carb set up block vs. a fuel injected one? I'm planning on getting a new motor built for my car and am not sure which way to go? Any advice for this rookie?

Well if you're living in Cali it should be a no brainer... Carb applications ARE NOT smog legal for any car that wasn't originally equipped with it....

Beyond that factor Carb apps will generally make more power if you know what you're doing with a carb or know someone that can tune a carbed car. You don't need as much technical knowhow or high dollar tuning aids (like DFI or Motec/Speedpro) to get your carb'd car to run like you would with a high power FI setup....The downside is the driveability. Fuel Injection does alot of the guesswork for you and changes the way the engine runs automatically based on sensor input and atmospheric conditions. All that stuff goes away with the carb'd setup. You'll gain overall power in the longrun but driveability suffers. I'd choose the fuel injection unless it was going to be a track only application or if I lived in Texas where it didn't matter.

well if you dont give two shits about smog then id go carby. cheaper more people with tuning knowledge and less mess.

Nothing looks as tuff to me as my little 331 with the victor intake and a DOMINATOR on it.

Looks tuff and will run hard.

Watch and see

I don't have the luxuary of having a track only car. Eventually i'm gonna have to smog the thing to drive it, so looks like the carb is out. Thanks for the replys.
