So this guy was telling me that 289's can run a high 9 to low 10 second pass in the 1/4. With 3.55 gears in back too. I guess anything is possible but seems hard to believe. Whatchal think? [BS flag] [Confused]

All motor? It would be a shelby kit car.
Anything else I'd guess you could with a power adder but, sounds more like [BS flag] to me. To make that kind of power you would push a real 289 block to the breaking point.

Just a 289 block built with 289 crank so its still a 289, everything else performance and N/A spinning up to like 7k RPM. In a 65 mustang, mini-tubbed/4-link/slicks. I didnt get into too mu ch details with him on it. I figured it would be somewhere in the 12 second range on a good day.

That 289 must be putting out 450-500 horsepower then. That's pretty crazy but gives me some hope on my setup when it comes time to rebuild. I always liked having a 289 in it but always want more power.

For the 289 to run 9's, it would have to have over 600 rwhp if it weighs about 3200 w/ driver. That's over 2 hp per cubic inch. HIGHLY UNLIKELY N/A!!!
