Looks like both of you did well for your first time out and had a lot of fun!
Here is what I am noticing:
1.) Launch... With your power levels and slicks, you should be in the 1.59-1.65 range on the 60ft. Roll into that water box, roll out, and do 2nd gear burnouts until you start to see smoke. 1st gear burnouts never did it for me unless I held it there for a LONG time.
Start off with a particular RPM, and continue to raise the launch RPM on each pass. Once it stops hooking, begin experimenting with the tire pressure. I found that ~14psi hot worked best for me on a 26x8.5 slick. I was leaving at 6200RPM and consistently cut low 1.7x with the stock motor, and a best of 1.69
2.) Shifting - Although this will have a smaller effect than the launch, it is important as well. Watching those videos, it looks like both of you have at least 0.2 to gain just buy shifting faster and at the right time. Kanye, you especially, I feel like I can do a full exhale before you get into the next gear, lol. Powershifting is obviously abuse on the tranny, but it will net the best times. You know you are getting good, when the RPM only is only climbing a couple hundred RPM per shift. I would hold off on power shifting until everything else is in place however. I think both of these cars are 12.2 @ 111mph capable with a 1.59 60ft.
And don't forget the golden rule of drag racing - If you want to run the number, you can't go out there scared to break hardware.
The fastest guys out there are the ones that go to the track with the mentality of, "I expect something to break, and when it does, I will fix it and be right back out here"
Best of luck gentlemen!

I was out there but had my kids and girl with me so I stayed in the stands.....
I just noticed everytime you made a pass all the day light between your back and the seat...set the seat up and I bet it'll help with those granny shifts

You know T, I don't have as much time these days to race regularly as I did several years ago, but I just might have to bolt on some slicks and let it go at 7000rpm with my stock motored 4.30 geared DOHC, if you cats are gonna go out there with a good sized group like that. Who has a pair of slicks I can borrow? lol... [ February 18, 2010, 08:32 PM: Message edited by: Luke87GT ]

Thanks for the advice Luke. I have a lot to work on.. My launch needs the most work, but that will only get better with seat time & timing. As far as shifting goes, I would shift faster, but I need to install a new clutch cable because my current one is all melted on the header & feels like trash, also my trans isn't the best either & could use a rebuild. That is also the reason I was doing 1st gear burnouts because it would pop out of gear in 2nd....
I will be planning on hitting the track more on a regular basis though & I can only get better...
