I know most people keep the rear sway bar on, but I have been reading on a few places were people have gotten better 60 foot times buy removing it. Has anybody tried this to see the difference? I am looking for some little tricks to help my car 60 foot. On hoosier dot's I ran a best of 11.11 at 128.8 with a 1.76 60 foot [Confused] I have X2c uppers,Mega bite lowers the ones with rod ends and a air bag in the right rear. I don't see any reason I can't get this thing into the low 1.5s for 60 foots.

I'm not sure about removing the rear, I only removed the front sway bar. What shocks and struts do you have to help weight transfer and plant the rear?

most people i talk to say keep the rear sway bar on. it helps the car launch straighter. keeps the body from rolling to one side or the other and keeps the trok loc from unlocking. i run low 1.6's on 275/50/15 dr's mega bite jr lower, bbk upper, kyb shocks and frpp's rear springs. good luck on your 60's.

I run strange 10 way adjustable struts and shocks. I have tried many different settings. I need to bolt on slics but really do not want to.

I saw shadetree at the track one time run without a rear sway bar. He'd forgotten to put it back on & raced it anyway. The car was all over the track. Don't know if his 60fts improved or not....but the car was un-stable going down the track.

We knocked .05sec off my wife's 60ft from tires alone. Swapped from ET Drags to Hoosier slicks.
Lowered the rear of the car 1/2 inch lower than the front (measured at the fender). Just enough air in the rear air bag to keep the rear end flat on launch. No quad-shocks. LOTS of gear (4.30's & a 3.27 1st gear) & launched off the 2-step. Mid/high 1.4 60fts best. Averaged low 1.5's with the ET Drags. 50/50 shocks in the rear....probably could have used stock with the same results. 90/10's up front. Stock springs all around (cut in the rear).

I would love to hit a 1.4. I might just have to bite the bullet and get a set of drag slics..I might just keep the rear sway bar on my car it is squirly enough as it is.lol

I ran my 93 cobra with the blower motor without a sway bar in the rear, control arms on the car didnt have provisions for a stocker

bad idea, banged 4th, lit up the 275 mt's and it shaked and rolled pretty good rom the rear, not fun at a 100+

I would guess there is something else you are missing, taking the sway bar off will let the car twist more and not hit the tire as hard or evenly

what holes are you usign on the mega bites, what shock settings, what tire and pressure

does the car go right, left, or just brun rubber

and have you checked the rearend for squareness compared to the front end??

I have tried both holes on the megabites, Car leaves nice and straight, and the rear end is square. I have tried different shock settings and different air pressure. I drive on the street with my hoosiers. A friend of mine mentioned I might be getting oils and to much dirt on the tires so they are not as effective on the track.

what size tire and gears??

checked pinion angle??

road olis will hurt the tires but I would bet not that bad unless thet are also old

do you swap them often, should flop sides the equivalent of every 20 passes

and what front springs, might not be getting enough weight transfer

3.73 gears pinion angle is checked. 27/11-15 Hoosier quick time pros. i do not rotate the tires from side to side. I have the stock front springs and set the strange struts to the lowest setting at the track. the rears from 3 to 5 mostly I have tried all setings. In Sac they worked best at 6. I actualy got down to a 1.68 60 foot time but the track went away on the big end. I was drifting a little side ways one pass at about 120 [Eek!]

with those tires you should be doing wheelies

I would start with fresh tires and rotate them and break them in correctly before street driving on them, unless it hass been doing this since they were new

and new front springs, coil overs or a drag launch kit, probably not getting enough weight transfer to the rear

whats the pinion angle?

have you ever removed turned the shocks in the rear all the way soft and bounced the back of the car, make sure it moves a bunch, to check if anything is bound up, same with the front, struts all the way soft and bounce it

they are almost worn out so I have to buy a new set.
pinion angle is set at -3 nothing is bound up in the rear end. The stiffer I set the rear shocks the better it is. I bolted slics on it once and hit a 1.56 60 foot. I do not want to buy slics for this car. At the high 1.6 60 foots it actualy does pull the wheels I start loosing traction as soon as the boost comes up(which is very fast)

Buy Kevin's uppers, set your IC correctly and skip the 1.5's all together.

As far as "road oils" being a problem on the tires, I'm not really buying into that much. Unless you are trying to tell me my 18 inch DR's are going to go 1.3's instead of high 1.4's if I only use them at the track. [Wink] [Razz]

It's all in the suspension and driving style.

Mike, I know you're good buds with Brian. If you launch like he launches his vert, than you have found 1/2 your problem. [Big Grin] [Wink]

lol I didn't suggest oils it was suggested to me. I have read some of Kevins stuff I will have to look back into it. Brian was having 60 foot problems after swaping to the DOT tires also. On slics his car left like a beast. I do not think Kevin like's the lowers I have. Maybe I need 18 inch drag radials [Big Grin]
