If Im not mistaken the rule applys to a true slick not a DOT approved Street tire IE. ET Streets. Also if your run faster then 13.00 you have to have a DS Loop. But like stated above they never check.

The driveshaft loop is required to meet the NHRA safety rules if the car is running 13.99 and faster on slicks or 13.00 and faster on street tires.

I only plan on going once or twice. I don't need Ford to look at the DS loop or the holes that were where the loop was at and instantly void my warranty. That's why I'm asking.

If you're going once or twice, don't worry about the loop. Compared to many other car's (mopar) drive shafts, ours are a lot more sturdy and less prone to being tossed.

So does that mean I do or do not need one? It's just a question, no need to be like that.

That means you DO NOT need a driveshaft loop [patriot]

Dude, I was just kidding, I really wouldn't hope that on anybody. In all reality, we don't usually look for the loop, but if for some reason, a tech inspector gets a bug up his ass to check then you are kinda screwed. It's really just a safety issue. Your H or X pipe would probably protect it from going down anyways, problem is it wouldn't protect it from going up and tearing through the floorboards of your car. That is my main concern. it's a $20 part that could save you a lot of headaches, and as far as warranty work, they got to prove that you installing the loop caused whatever problem it is that you might have had

Thanks for the reply. It's hard to tell when someone's giving you a hard time or just kidding with you on BB's. It's all good. [Smile]

I've been bent over by a couple local dealers before on my last car so I'm a little gun shy when it comes to mods and warranty work. To make a long story short they wouldn't honor my warranty because I had eibach springs and tokico shocks. They said those were racing modifications and since I had those on my car that meant I raced it, which I had not, and that caused my tranny to be hard to get into, on the 1-2 shift and pop out of reverse. Sure I could've fought them in court, but I don't have that kind of money and I had no way to get to work w/out my car. Friggin dealers. [Mad]

Now I have my 03 Cobra and if I have to take her in for any reason I don't want to give them any excuse to deny me warranty work. Everything is coming off if I have to take it in, but holes in the floorpan where the loop would bolt to would be hard to hide.

Thanks again.
