Those office assholes act like they're always too busy plus outside of new car dmv rules, they're probably just as knowledgeable on the subject as your average cafords lowballer. There are not many people who even qualify for a 30-40k loan payoffs with personalized plates on here though.

Yeah, why bother wasting their time with such trivial questions that is within their scope. Got it.

Don't the people on this forum live in cities with a mechanic they can ask their questions? Did you have an issue with it, or what is your deal?

And if you want the answer yes I work in a RETAIL dealership, which is separate from private party. I can't sell my car through my dealership, it's finance managers, or its DMV clerks.

You seem defensive on a simple question. I just know they usually have clerks who deal with dmv directly all the time ,and deal with the exact situation you are experiencing .. And you can probly get a direct and quicker responses from them is all. I did not mean anything by it at all.. And I don't get personal on forums at all .. Just a question

Sorry, didn't mean to be a bitch, was in a funk.

Yes I asked our DMV clerk, however when we take in a car that has personal plates here we fill out a separate form, slap on paper plates and charge the next buyer for a full year of registration.

Little defensive?

He was just asking if you tried the subject matter experts at the dealership you work at if they have any experience with buying/selling vehicles with custom tags.

Different rules when selling a car private party then retail
So, what you are saying is that a DMV clerk at a retail dealership does not know how to deal with custom tag with regard to a private party sale. Because dealerships never buy cars from customers who have custom plates... They must just get a temp tag and let the seller keep their plates.
Have you every bought a car private party and used a credit union to make the purchase the make you do lots of different things then you would purchasing from a dealer.

Bought and sold using credit unions. Last one I wrote a contract between buyer and I that they would cover registry and license plate issues. They paid the registration since I suspended it and they paid for new plates since I had vanity plates. When I bought a car credit union wouldn't give me money without sellers present. Setup another contract with seller to hand me the title so I can register it and then I got the loan after it was in my name. Gave the sellers their money and picked up my collateral.

All different experiences however they all required current registration and I knew that before hand.

Retail DMV clerks/associates/administrators whatever they're called could care less about how a credit union handles vanity plates. From what I gather from the resident CAFORD experts.
