Couple things i'd like to address... If your paint is new and you want to avoid scratches, swirls, and spiderwebbing:

1. DON'T use compressed air
2. DON'T use the California Car duster (or anything equivalent)
3. DON'T use just plain water in a spray bottle

Removing dirt and dust requires a medium to separate the dust/dirt from the paint. Something with lubricity. Automotive soaps are engineered to do this without drying out the paint or striping wax like dish soap would.

The Meguiar's Quik Detailer mentioned above is a decent choice for light dust. For heavy dust, especially on a car that has been stored for a while, i'd recommend a waterless/rinseless spray-on car wash.

wow, that's more than CA duster can handle... tape it up best you can and do a proper wash or don't do it at all. some folks have pretty good luck with waterless car wash, but i always stick with the 'real wash' [Big Grin]
