I am thinking of getting rid of my Dodge and picking up a diesel Excursion. I am looking for the 03 and older with the 7.3L and in 4x4. Does anyone own one of these? I am wondering what type of mileage you get and what your overall opinion is of it? How's the ride? I am going to go to some dealers locally and drive one in the next few days. Any recurring problems with these? Any info is greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the help!

Yeah whether you get the 7.3, 6.0, or 6.8 V10 you will be seeing 8-10 intown and 12-15 freeway. Gas guzzler is an understatment.

What's wrong with that.. you fill up less than as opposed to a 40 gallon tank. [Confused]

My wife drives an 01 Excursion 7.3, on 35's.

The tank holds 44 gallons.

Lots of room, comfortable, decent milage with the diesel, and I don't worry about the wife and kid being hurt in an accident. Milage depends on mods too. Ours gets about 16 or so with the bigger tires, intake, exhaust, and programer.

For the 7.3's depending on milage, and how it was maintained will be key. Ball joints, and tranny are the big money things that will go first.

I wouldn't own anything else!
