That ish is sick. Damn my car looks good. Haah
So what's the process u go through to do it. Do you custom make all the background effects or does the program do it automatically?

Epik, are those true HDR photos or an editing program that makes it look like it? I always thought HDR was the process of layering multiple photo at different settings? I may be wrong, but I was just curious
Props though on the cool pix

I dunno if its true HDr or not. The way you described is true HDR, but I have been editing my photos that i already have in Iphoto & doing 3-5 different exposures & then layering them in photmatix. I will eventually take the actual pics at different exposure levels with my D40, but I need to get a tripod 1st.....
Thanks for the props man....

I have a Gitzo GT2530 with a Markins M20 ballhead and RRS plates. Carbon fiber 3 legs. I recommend the tripod but not the head, I hate it. Also, the price of the stuff is not cheap, I probably have $1k in my tripod alone.

Fox GT's pics could be true HDR, not sure about the others. I use HDR heavily at work. We do CG FX for movies, games and DVD's. And I use HDR images to light my 3d scenes. So it is a weee bit more to it than some may think. But in any event I am enjoying the pics. FOXGT those pics are amazing. For best results you need to get a RAW data file from your cam. And photoshop, which is a much better HDR assembler than Photomatix. I also use hdrShop to fine tune sometimes. But like I said I am in the GFX industry so it may be a bit diff for a photographer and their output.

Yes, those pics are true HDR, multiple exposures taken at the time of shooting then merged later. My friend is truly amazing, I'll dig up some more pics.

Looking okay Epik but you can see the line on the building, the sky is blown out, etc. Coming along though.

Yeah those pics are Badass FoxGT. None of mine are true HDR YET, because I have yet to get a tripod. My hand isnt steady enough to take multiple exposures without 1.....

I know, I noticed the line too & wasnt sure what caused that? I probably sharpened the pic too much in Iphoto beforehand...
My pics will never be as good as your buddies simply because Im not a photographer, I just like to have fun...
The sky is white in the shots of the Mach though because it was foggy that day....

Try bracketing the exposure when taking the next set of pics:
1. shoot 2. hold expo-comp button, spin command dial 1x clicks to the left 3. shoot 4. hold expo-comp button, spin command dial 2x clicks to the right 5. shoot
Thats how bracketing was done in the film days and your D40 doesnt have automatic bracketing feature. It should get you pretty close to being able to do that.
