Thanks alot guys, i know what to expect from Heald - lol

I would suggest to get "in" with these people asap. The best way to learn and to get more "bang for your buck" is to do "hands-on" work WHILE attending school...don't wait until you graduate and then go out into the field, for IT. I cannot stress this enough. The last thing you want is to graduate, get job offers for 15 bucks an hour because you don't have any "experience." Get the experience under your belt while in school and I can almost guarantee you'll be making a lot more than everyone else in your class.
Good luck, and study hard! I graduated with a 4.0 as well. [patriot]

UPDATE ::

Did alot of question asking today and found that recently Heald has signed more contracts with other Universitys , i talked to my Dean and she said after i recieve my AS degree and if my attendance and credits are good (above 3.0+) i can easily get into Cal State University or San Jose Or State University in SF [worship] And last years graduation polls indicated that 100% of the students from last year that graduated are working in their fields today - 2 years ago it was 98%..

What do you guys think of the update

If your goal is to transfer to a UC, just go to a JC and get better resources, education is cheaper, more friendlier, more flexible class schedules, more transfer resources, and did I mention cheaper? Plus your AS will be more valid on paper. DOnt forget it is the resume that gets you in the door. And even in this day and age Heald just does not look good. Has a reputation for being an out route for slackers. (not saying that is true, but it is the image behind it). But like I said with the right determination you can make something good of a heald education.

I used to work at PeopleSoft, I was sorely over paid for what I did...

I understand what your saying but the the main thing is that im already accepted and signed the financial aid paperwork, if i just quit and dropout i will be charged or possibly get something negative into my credit report - just have that feeling ...

You could easily get into SJ or SF state with a 3.0 gpa from a JC and save some money along the way.

There's also no way that I would believe that 100% of the students that graduated last year are working in their fields today. No way at all.

If you've already committed and set your mind to going there, then just make sure you get everything you can out of it. No use in looking back if you feel you made the right decision [patriot]

Yea man heald is not the end of the world. You can still make good with it. After all I made good with the Oakland Public School system so it can be done. Dont be afraid to try things on your own and learn outside of heald. Good luck.

Another thing i found out today is that you HAVE to wear dress clothing at Heald, Men HAVE to wear a TIE every school day except Fridays, No Jeans, No T Shirts - Has to be long sleeve shirts with a Tie [Eek!] I also talked to a DeVry counselor and she told me if i want i can come by DeVry and have a talk with her, their next semester begins March 3rd - If i attend a JC i would have to start from the bottom all the way to the top, meaning getting my Generals for 2years then adding on to my programm classes - Which will be 2 years just to get my generals, i can be graduated with Heald or DeVry by then in 18 months....

What do you guys think of the update

I was given the same bs sales pitch when I went there. Come to think of it I am reminded of it each time I step onto a used car lot. Like I am about to get bent over by someone trying to make a quick buck at my expense. If you really are wanting to transfer, take a print out of the class's you will be taking at heald to the college you are going to go to after heald and find out which ones will qualify for transfer credit. I did this part of the way through and found out 2 of the many I had took would transfer. See even the UC's and State school's won't transfer most of their credits for good reason.

don't sweat the dress code. its not like you get to choose what you'll wear when you're out in the field working anyhow. (or to some extent at least)

Plus your degree will hold more ground against other applicants. I had to hire a few people not too long ago and I interviewed a few folks that graduated from Heald and I will tell you that they really didnt know shit. I think that is more of a reflection of the school than the individual plus, I have heard nothing but bad things about heald and the grads. but you can take it upon yourself to expand your own knowledge on your own, and use Heald as a spring board. I started as a Network admin (BS in Comp Sci.) and got my MSCE and A+, But I have since moved on to programming and got my MCSD and MCP and no school IMO gets you ready for true on the job type tasks.

couldnt of said it better myself. That is the track I am on right now.

hate to break it to you but it doesnt take 2 years to get your generals... You can get all your generals done in 4 semesters if you wanted to (including summer)
