This morning my brother had problems with the serpentine belt he said the car would fire up but the belt wasn moving and started to smoke what could be the problem?? The car is 1989 Mustang GT 5.0 any help is appreciated and thanx in advance

is the belt routed correctly? smooth to smooth, grooved to grooved? bout all i can think of if thats related to your issue...

your barrings could be ceased on one pully. making it smoke because the pully that is ceased is not turning and rubbing against it making it smoke

The belt is routed correctly I took the belt off all the pullies spin freely expect the crank and air pump. I'm guessing the crank isn't supposed to spin unless the car is on right ?

Air pump should spin freely, so if it doesn't it could be seized.

Yea the air pump doesnt spin at all.

So should the whole pump be replaced or just the pulley?
