Mine passed with H/C/I, Bassani high flow cats, and ALL the bolt ons. It was test only as well.

It really depends on the dude doing the smog. I have all sorts of non CARB stuff. It passed fine. I have a BBK pipe. No CARB EO #.
Good Luck.

From my experience, as long as all the smog equipment is hooked up and working, any car should pass...
but for those who just hope they get lucky,

I tried a new tactic last month with my test-only smog. I overloaded him with a whole file folder of CARB #s, even for parts that I didn't have. The look on his face told me there was no way he was going to take the time to verify each one so he passed me after just checking everything was hooked up correctly and the tailpipe test was clean. Although, it took me two attempts to find a lazy smog tech.

They use test only for older cars, like ours.
It is no big deal. It just means that the tech cannot make any modifications to your car to help it pass. It either passes or doesn't. If it doesn't then you have to make repairs somewhere else and bring the car to another test only station again. If you are nervous get the car tested first, incase you will fail.
I passed stroked with H/C/I. They jumped all over my s***t at first, but all of my parts had carb numbers. They were really nervous. They quickly noticed my EGR was hooked up, os that eased their worries that my car was totally illegal. I had my stock H-pipe with four cats and she passed super clean.

like BlownNOS said it really just depends on the guy you go to, some techs are lazy and just want to get you in and out of there. try to find a place like that and you'll have a way easier time gettin passed.

yes really all depends on the smog tech. some are really thorough about checking all carb numbers while other techs only check the obvious smog stuff. that said, the car i have now when owned by my friend was smogged with a kb blower , 2 cat xpipe and some other stuff w/out any hassles.

Off 880 take the Auto mall Exit west. The first light is Christy, turn right. Go one block to Albrae and turn right. The first drive way(about 60 feet) turn right. It's a smog only station and the guy(Iraqis) seems "lazy", at lease when they did my car.

I just about know the guy that smogs my cars (speaks ZERO english). I used to take our crappy honda there for all its oil changes, smogs and some work that I was to lazy to do...after a while they get to know you a little by face. I don't get hassled with carb numbers but I'm sure they would fail me if items were not hooked up properly. From my understanding their machine tells them how many cats should be on the car when they punch in year and make.
