Used by drag racers to eliminate the stock c-clips on the diff. Locks the axles in on the end of the axle tubes.

They are also a required piece of equiptment when going down the track in times of 10.99 or faster
(edit, its either 10.99 or 11.99, not sure)

Really I never new that! Well say if i don't run them and the C-clip brakes, what is the odds of that and won't the wheel and axel fly out?

drew brings up a great point....leaks suck, and it's not likely they will know at the track...but ask yourself, "How fast are you really wanting to go?", and go from there.

I have a fix for that so if you do decide to get them let me know. Mine leaked like crazy when I installed them but since I fixed them they haven't leaked a drop.

9" housing ends are THE WAY TO GO! They are track legal, they never leak, they cost the same or less than c-clip eliminators and overall are just a better design.

What you need to do is to install an factory axle seal in the end of the tube but it needs to be modified first. The modification requires that you cut slits in the O.D. of the seal. The reason for this is that the factory seal is a little too big to fit in the unmachined part of the axle tube that is available. The original part of the tube gets cut off to fit the eliminator. Once the slits are made in the seal you just insert it into the tube (with minor persuation) and then run a bead of RTV between the seal and the axle tube. I will try to post a pic of the seal but I'm not sure if the host allows it. If not, maybe someone here will host it.

sounds like a good idea to me. How long have you had it like that with out leaking? I have always heard to do the 9" big bearing swap and have the axle tubes welded up for increased strength

I modified mine about 3 years ago and they haven't leaked a drop. They work in the same manner as factory seals which last quite a while before they leak. No other RTV is needed on the eliminator, only the RTV on the seal to axle tube. Also, the eliminator bearings do not need the axle oil for lubrication because they are sealed so no need to worry about that. Doing the 9" ends is also a good way to go as long as you satisified with the brake setups that go along with them. I believe that the axle lengths also need to be modified to fit the 8.8 housing but I'm not sure on that.
One thing to note though. This mod only works up to 31 spline axles, which is what I have. The seal opening will not accommodate anything larger then 31 spline.
