anyone tell d propper way & of any local spots 2 get it done? if i do it i'd only take an inch.

Nic you can't just cut it and weld it together.
Just take the measurements take it to a shop and have them do it.
It needs to get balanced by them.

i heard that i can just cut the yoke part of it-no need 4 welding???

Have you ever seen what happens when the driveshaft breaks at the tranny tailshaft end? 1 of 2 things. The shaft plants itself into the ground as you're driving 60mph, and it either shoots the entire rearend out the back of the car, or it'll plant and you'll go end over end. My neighbor (CHP in the Livermore area) has seen both, and they're not pretty. If you feel confident enough to do the work yourself and save $50, then go for it.

Call around. Most of the driveshaft shops I used to go to in the Tracy area usually only charge anywhere from $50-$75 to shorten and balance a driveshaft.

Call Driveline Services in San Jose. They can cut, weld and balance. Good luck!

Web's welding in Vacaville (off Main) does them, it's around $60.
